3. Tourist Visa / ETA

Bangladeshi travelers visiting Sri Lanka for a short tourist stay generally need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

The official Sri Lanka ETA system lists tourism purposes such as sightseeing, holidays, and visiting friends or relatives under the Tourist ETA category. It also provides a Tourist ETA with double entry for 30 days.

For travelers from South Asian countries, including Bangladesh, the current online Tourist ETA processing fee is US$20. The official fee schedule also lists an on-arrival tourist ETA fee of US$25 for South Asian countries.

4. Eligibility

Applicants for a Sri Lanka Tourist ETA should generally:

  • Hold a valid Bangladeshi passport.
  • Have a genuine purpose of tourism.
  • Provide accurate and complete personal information.
  • Have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
  • Have a confirmed return or onward ticket.
  • Have sufficient funds to cover expenses during the stay.
  • Provide accommodation details where applicable.
  • Comply with Sri Lankan immigration and visa regulations.
  • Provide genuine and verifiable information and documents.

The Sri Lankan ETA authority states that ETA holders should have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, a confirmed return ticket, and sufficient funds for their stay.
